SYNTHESIS OF 3-ARYLMETHYL-4- THIAZOLIDINE-CARBOXYLIC ACID-2-ONES AND 2-THIONES
Barium salts of dibenzylidene cystines 8a-c were obtained from the reaction of Lcystine with benzaldehyde or its derivatives in the presence of barium hydroxide. Their reduction with zinc and hydrochloric acid in methanol yielded the Narylmethylcysteines ?9a-c?. These can, in turn, be converted by esterification into the methyl esters ?10 a-c. ?Reaction of N, N'-carbonyl diimidazole (Im C...

متن کاملEffects of the Proline Analog l-Thiazolidine-4-carboxylic Acid on Proline Metabolism.
The effect of various proline analogs on proline oxidation in mitochondria isolated from etiolated barley (Hordeum vulgare) shoots was investigated. Of the analogs tested, only l-thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (T4C) was an effective inhibitor. T4C (1 millimolar) inhibited proline (10 millimolar) -dependent 0(2) uptake an average of 67%. T4C was also oxidized to some degree (12.9 nanoatoms oxyge...

Bacteriol. 91:1564-1569. 1966.-Resting cells of Escherichia coli K-12, pregrown in a proline- and thioproline-free medium, oxidize the proline analogue, l-thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (l-thioproline), without a lag with the consumption of ...
متن کاملActions of a Proline Analogue, L-Thiazolidine-4-Carboxylic Acid (T4C), on Trypanosoma cruzi
It is well established that L-proline has several roles in the biology of trypanosomatids. In Trypanosoma cruzi, the etiological agent of Chagas' disease, this amino acid is involved in energy metabolism, differentiation processes and resistance to osmotic stress. In this study, we analyzed the effects of interfering with L-proline metabolism on the viability and on other aspects of the T. cruz...
